1. William L. Seale Death, formerly of Floyds Knobs, IN – Obituary
William Lloyd Seale, formerly of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the residence of his son in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was a beloved father, grandpa, and brother. He passed away with his loving family surrounding him. His birthday is December 2nd, 1927, and he was born in Ravenna, Kentucky. He had reached the age of 94. During World War II, he enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines in July 1945 at the age of seventeen. In addition, he was a member of the United States Army from November 1951 to 1953, and he was a member of the Army Reserve from 1953 until 1957.
In 1957, he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. In 1962, he successfully passed the exam to become a certified public accountant. At the Louisville, Kentucky location of Belknap Hardware, he held the positions of Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Additionally, he worked for Fashion Shops of Louisville as the Chief Financial Officer. He loved his wife and children beyond all else, but he also spent a great deal of time on the golf course. He won multiple club championships while playing golf at the Valley View course in Floyds Knobs, even though he played at other courses as well. Read More
2. William Seale Death, an Alexandria historian, author & resident – Obituary
After a protracted battle with illness, William Seale, a historian, author, and resident of Alexandria, passed away on November 21 in Washington, D.C. He was 80. Seale was born in Beaumont, Texas, and raised there throughout his childhood. At a young age, he had an interest in antiques and architecture. His mother “had an eye for interiors and could readily date items in them,” Seale said in an interview with the National Park Service. His father was a contractor who constructed buildings, while his mother “had an eye for interiors.”
Before commencing his career as a history professor at Lamar College in Texas, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Southwestern University, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in history from Duke University. In 1966, he weds his bride, Lucinda Smith Seale, a native of Alexandria, in the Christ Episcopal Church located on North Washington Street. By 1969, he had given up teaching full-time, and the following year, in 1971, he collaborated with Henry-Russell Hitchcock on the creation of a history of the state capitols. Read more
