Tony Sly (1951-2020) Obituary: Tony passed away on December 3, 2020, having been born on November 21, 1951. The Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada, in the United States of America, is where Tony was laid to rest. Frances Sly, Tony’s daughter, penned the following: “I just found out that my dad has been gone for two years. I wish someone had gotten ahold of me and my brothers so that we could have said our goodbyes. I know that we had our disagreements, but I love you with all of my heart and miss you. I will always remember my dad for his tall and skinny self and his bold head that I used to pat and say (we be). I just found out that my dad has been gone for two years. Tony Sly (1970 – 2012): The news that No Use For a Name frontman Tony Sly has passed away was recently brought to our attention. He had reached the age of 41. Sly became a member of the long-running punk band in 1989 and has since contributed to the release of nine full-length albums and multiple EPs with the band. In addition to his work with No Use for a Name, he has also released a number of solo acoustic records. Among these are a pair of records that he recorded with his friend Joey Cape, who is the frontman for Lagwagon. He and Cape were both members of the band Scorpios along with Jon Snodgrass and Brian Wahlstrom at one point. Patricia Louise Sly Paris, Illinois: Patricia Louise Sly, age 79, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois. She was a resident of Tuscola, Illinois. In Tuscola, Illinois, where she lived, she worked as the housekeeping supervisor for Jarman Hospital. She was born on August 9, 1942, in the vicinity of Rockville, Indiana. Her parents, Wilbur Fred and Blanche (Crawford) Shafer, both passed away before her birth. They were married on December 8, 2006, in Paris, and Fred Sly is still alive today.

She is also survived by her brother John Shafer of Cloverdale, Indiana; her sister Lois Shafer of Cloverdale, Indiana; her step-grandchildren; and she was a much-loved aunt to a large number of nieces and nephews. Her step-grandchildren are Allyn Sly of Chrisman, Illinois, and Jeremy Sly of Paris. Other survivors include these individuals. Her parents, two sisters named Elsie Marlar and Ruby Patterson, her brother Jim Shafer, and two infant brothers named Robert Joseph Shafer and Donald Wayne Shafer all passed away before she did.
