On February 11, 2022, Dr. V. Timothy Shea Jr., who resided in Woodbury, Connecticut, passed away in a tranquil manner at home, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Tim Shea was the son of the late Dr. Vincent T. Shea and Helen (Scully) Shea, and he was born in Waterbury on June 16, 1938. He received a degree in 1960 from Villanova University after completing his education at Canterbury School in New Milford. Tim completed his medical education with a residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from University College Dublin in 1965 and went on to practice medicine there.
After that, Tim enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. There, he provided medical care to wounded soldiers who had just returned from Vietnam. Tim continued to devote his life to serving people as a surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury after moving back to Connecticut. He eventually rose through the ranks to become Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the hospital, a position he held from 1994 to 2004. His family eventually made their home in Woodbury, which he came to adore as a community.
