A lifetime fan of the club, Steve Hartshorn, passed away at the age of 54, and the organization is inconsolably heartbroken by the news.Steve, who served the club and its followers in a variety of capacities during his career, will be lovingly remembered by a great number of fans. He was the editor of the FTYBR (Follow The Yellow Brick Road) fanzine and the manager of its supporters’ team, which at its height competed and triumphed at the Endsleigh League Supporters Challenge at Wembley Stadium in front of 40,000 spectators in the year 1994. Steve worked as a co-commentator alongside James Bradley on Mansfield 103.2 at the turn of the century. Subsequently,
he became a regular summariser for Stags World/Stags PlayerHD (now iFollow Stags), where he also provided commentary alongside James and Martin Shaw. He was also a reporter for the Mansfield & Ashfield Observer, where he covered the Stags. The author is James Steven Hartshorn. James “Jim” Steven Hartshorn, a devoted husband and a doting father of two girls, passed away on March 4, 2020, at the age of 62. His passing was announced on March 4th. On October 30, 1957, James William Hartshorn was born in Bishop, California to parents William and Rose Hartshorn. In 1975, he received his diploma from Bishop Union High School and enrolled at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo. In 1975, he graduated from Cuesta Community College. He wed the woman who would become the love of his life, Michele Jeanine Meeks, on September 8th, 1979. Olivia and Taylor are the two girls who they brought up together.
James was a man who radiated vitality and cherished any endeavor that took him into the great outdoors. He was known far and wide for his beef jerky and ribs, and he enjoyed nothing more than cooking on the grill for his loved ones. He was generous with his time and contributed it to a number of community projects, including the renovation of the Big Pine Animal Shelter and the construction of a new addition to the Laws Railroad Museum.
