1. Stanley Stephens Death, Of Lake Henshaw – Obituary
Stanley Stephens, 71 years old, was reported missing in early August by the Escondido police department. A body was discovered a couple of weeks ago discarded near Lake Henshaw. According to the Escondido police department, the body has been positively identified as belonging to Stanley Stephens. According to Escondido police Lieutenant Suzanne Baeder, the corpse of Stephens was discovered on September 6 in the vicinity of Lake Henshaw and Santa Ysabel by a road crew working on a bridge in the region.
After conducting an autopsy, the county Medical Examiner’s Office was able to establish that Stephens was the deceased person. Eduardo Zamoro, 32 years old, was taken into custody by the police in connection with the homicide even before the body was discovered. He has entered a plea of not guilty to a single count of murder as well as an accusation that he used a knife in the slaying of the victim. According to the criminal complaint, Stephens passed away on or around August 10 – the day that was the last time anyone saw him alive. Source

The 20th of January, 1957 found Stanley Stephens being welcomed into the world in Gainesville, Georgia by his parents, Eva Cheeks Stephens and the late Joe W. Stephens. After a very short battle with illness, he went to be with the Lord on July 22. Both E. E. Butler High and Gainesville High School were Stanley’s alma maters. During his time at E. E. Butler High School, he participated in the Esquires Club. He joined the St. Paul United Methodist Church when he was still a young child. Everyone in the room referred to him as “Smooth.” Stanley was well liked by a lot of people. He was a huge fan of watching the Atlanta Falcons play in their games. In addition to that, he enjoyed viewing classic movies on VCR and listening to old school jams.
In every part of his town, people spoke highly of his thoughtfulness and giving. He cherished financial security and was willing to lend it to others; yet, if you borrowed from him and did not repay the loan, he would have you brought before the court. His family cared deeply for him, and he will be sorely missed by all of them.
