Four people were murdered in a car accident at South Pittsburg High School in Marion County. Three of the four people died in the crash were South Pittsburg Pirate Football alumni, according to Marion County Superintendent Dr. Mark Griffith.

A single-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday morning, June 4, killed 20-year-old Johnathan Allen of South Pittsburg, 22-year-old Jayven Martin, 20-year-old Sayveon Martin, and 16-year-old Jailyn Pellam.

Jayven Martin, a 2018 SPHS alumnus, was a defensive lineman. Saveon, his younger brother, played offensive line and graduated in 2021. Jamal Allen, a 2021 graduate, was an all-state defensive end. Jailyn Pellam played for the Class 1A State Championship team in 2021.
