Shem Tyler Bowman, age 26, passed away as a result of injuries he received in an accident while diving at the Chevelon Canyon Bridge. Shem Kent Bowman was born in Holbrook, Alaska on September 6th, 1995 to his parents, Dr. Samuel Kent Bowman and Marian Louise (Stevens) Bowman. He was exceptionally talented, smart, and brilliant. His successes made his family very happy, and they shared that pride with him.
Shem spent his earlier years working as a lifeguard in Holbrook and instructing a large number of children and teenagers how to swim. He worked as an ophthalmology tech for Phoenix Children’s Hospital and for other ophthalmologists while he was attending college and after he graduated from college. He also worked for other ophthalmologists. Shem had a very strong connection to young people. It had long been one of his most important goals in life to pursue a career in pediatric medicine, and he was making excellent progress toward realizing this ambition. The most recent position that Shem held was that of plant operator at Enterprise Products in Adamana. Enterprise Products is a facility that stores natural gas.
Shem is survived by his parents, Sam and Marian Bowman, of Holbrook; his siblings, Kalob (Jenna) Bowman, Michael Bowman, Seth Bowman, Luke Bowman, Alyssa Bowman, Jedde Bowman, Kaylee Bowman, and Shad Bowman; his girlfriend, Camille Griffith; his grandparents, Lee Anna Rogers and Malvern Stevens; and ten nieces and nephews. Shem passed away on February 1, 2019.
On Friday, June 10, the public is invited to attend the visiting that will take place at the Owens Livingston Mortuary, which is situated in Holbrook at 409 N. First Avenue. On Saturday, June 11, the memorial ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. It will take place at the Auditorium of Holbrook High School, which can be found at 485 N. 9th Avenue in Holbrook (enter the auditorium off Buffalo Street). After the funeral, the burial will take place in Holbrook Cemetery. The burial, which will be accompanied by full military honors, will take place at the Holbrook Cemetery at noon. When the services have concluded at the cemetery, everyone is invited to return to the school for a supper that will be prepared using the potluck method. Simply bring your favorite dish to pass around, and together we will continue to celebrate the wonderful life of Shem Tyler Bowman.
