2. Robert G. Carlson Obituary, born in Concordia, Kansas  Death

He was a member of the class of 1966 that graduated from Courtland High School. After completing his high school education, he went on to study agricultural economics at Fort Hays State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in May 1971. At the United Methodist Church in Belleville, Kansas, on the 12th of June in 1971, he wed the woman who would become the love of his life, Janice Lynette Carlson. Robert and Jan began their first life journey together with a two-year assignment with the Peace Corps, beginning at the end of July 1971, and they arrived in Tehran, Iran, on August 1, 1971.

After receiving instruction in the local language and culture, students were sent to the Boujerd Agriculture Technical School. Robert’s role was to instruct students in the use of agricultural machinery and new techniques for irrigation. he was responsible for the design and construction of a contemporary dairy barn that featured mechanized milking capabilities. They arrived back in the United States in August 1973. Jan began her career in education by instructing kindergarten students in Jewell, Kansas. Robert got his start in the agricultural industry working with his father John on the family farm and at the cooperative elevator. Read more
