1. Ronald J. Sider Death, of Lansdale, PA – Obituary

James and Ida Sider, who were his parents, passed away before he did. He is survived by his wife, Arbutus Sider; his son, Michael Sider-Rose, who is married to Randi Sider-Rose; his daughter, Sonya Smith, who is married to Ben Smith; and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Arbutus Sider; his son, Ted Sider, who is married to Jill North; his son, Michael Sider-Rose; and his seven grandchildren. Ron was raised in a close-knit Brethren in Christ community in the countryside, where he was raised after being born on a small farm outside of Stevensville, Ontario.

He was the first person in his family to attend college, and he went on to earn a master’s degree in church history from Yale University, where he was instructed by the well-known scholar Jaroslav Pelikan. After receiving his doctorate, he began his teaching career at Messiah College, where he was instrumental in the establishment of a new urban campus, and later moved on to teach at Palmer Theological Seminary, which is affiliated with Eastern University. 2. Ronald Allison Death – Obituary

Ronald Allison, who later served as the Queen’s press secretary, was the one to whom the monarchy went for assistance when it decided in the early 1970s that it was necessary to update its public persona. Allison, who passed away at the age of 90, was what the BBC still quaintly described as its court correspondent at the time, and what less reverent onlookers nicknamed a Gold Microphone in Waiting. Allison passed away recently. But at least he was working as a journalist, unlike the retired navy commanders or old Etonian courtiers of days gone by.

It wasn’t the first time that the royal household had employed press officers. Although the monarchy had managed without one for the majority of the 1930s and throughout the duration of the second world war, the first was appointed in 1918 and Allison would be the seventh to hold the position. Cmdr. Richard Colville, also known as the Abominable No Man, ruled the institution for 21 years.
