On July 11, 2021, Robert “Bob” Hugh Carney, Jr., age 58, resident of 147 Bailey Bridge Road, went to be with the Lord and is now at home in heaven. He was the spouse of Derenda Knighten Mullinax and the son of Robert Hugh Carney, Sr. and Sara Anderton Carney, who both resided in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia.
He served in the United States Marine Corps, was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and adhered to the Protestant faith. He worked for Logan Transportation. He cherished his time spent with his wife and children, his dogs Zeus and Apollo, his motorcycles, and the great outdoors. He is survived by a son, Gary Mullinax (Sara) of Gaffney; four daughters, Jennifer Lynn McAlonan (Jonathan) of Jacksonville, NC, Rachel Lynn Carney (William Waters) of Huntersville, NC, Hannah Lynn Carney of Wellford and Lindsey DeBorde (Will) of Gaffney; a son, Gary Mullinax (Sara) of Gaffney; two brothers, Guy Carney (Giselle) Lynn Carney, his sister, passed away before him. Robert William Carney Sr., age 53, of Oakland, Maryland, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. He had formerly lived in New Kensington. On September 26, 1967, in Canton, Ohio, he was welcomed into the world by parents James Carney and Patricia Rosa-Stewart. He is survived by his girlfriend, Wendy Schmidt; his two children, Robert William Carney Jr. and Brittany N. (Brandon) Harvey; his granddaughter, Braylynn Savage; his four step grandchildren, Kaelee, Madison, Audrey, and Mason; and his sister, Christy Carney. His parents also survive him.
