2. Robert Fowler Agnew Obituary, a native of Memphis, TN – Death

Bob Agnew made his final approach for landing on August 19, 2019. He passed away, with his family surrounding him, in a manner not dissimilar to how he accomplished the majority of the tasks he faced throughout his life: with unassuming grace and dignity. Bob Agnew was born on February 26, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, to his late mother Adelyn Agnew Ford-Coates and his father, the late Dr. Walker Fowler Agnew. He spent his formative years in Alexandria, Virginia, where he attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal School for secondary education. In high school, he was on the soccer team and also began his lifelong passion for music by joining a band and playing the guitar.

He received his undergraduate degree from Roanoke College in Virginia and his graduate degree from the University of North Dakota. It was at Roanoke College where he met Susan, the woman who would later become his wife and with whom he would spend the next 45 years. The journey that was their lives took them all over the world on many of their excursions, but Bob’s heart was always with his cherished family back in Arlington, Virginia. After beginning his career in aviation with the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command as an instructor navigator, he went on to launch his career in commercial flying with Northwest Airlines.  Read More
