Rita Alice Ndzanga Obituary: Rita Alice Ndzanga was a veteran of the struggle as well as a trade unionist. The Premier of the North West Province, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape, has expressed sadness on behalf of the North West Provincial Government at her passing. Ms. Ndzanga, who was 88 years old when she died on August 17, 2022, has departed this life. She was born on October 17th, 1933 in Mogopa Village, which is located close to Ventersdorp, to parents Isaac and Alina More. In 1977, her husband Lawrence Ndzanga passed away while serving time for his involvement in political activity that led to his incarceration. Premier Maape, when asked about Ms. Ndzanga’s involvement in the liberation struggle, replied that she was part of a generation of stalwarts who had devoted their lives to the liberation of the country. In addition to this, she played an important role in the establishment of the South African Congress of Trade Unions. Ms. Ndzanga was honored with the National Order of Luthuli in 2004 for her contributions to the realization of a non-racial, non-sexist, free and democratic South Africa by the country. This honor was bestowed upon her in recognition of her work toward these goals. This includes her significant contribution to advocating for workers’ rights during a time when the Black working class was subjected to exploitation, abuse, and racial oppression.   Full Obituary

Rita Carol Polansky Obituary: Rita Carol Polansky, 84, of Canonsburg, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home in Canonsburg. She was born on July 21, 1938, in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kosanovich Polansky. She was a devoted Catholic and was a Eucharistic Minister and an active member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church. Rita loved to travel and visited many faraway lands. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan and animal lover. She graduated from Duquense University with a Master’s Degree in Education. Early in her career, she was a dedicated third-grade teacher and reading specialist. She went on to be the Principal of Muse First Street and Borland Manor Elementary Schools. She also served as the Assistant Superintendent at the central office. During her career, she supervised student teachers. She developed and supervised the summer reading and math ESEA Program. She helped develop a new model of teaching, utilizing technology at Borland Manor Elementary School. After her retirement, she was a volunteer Principal at St. Patrick Elementary School. She touched the lives of countless children, always instilling a love of learning and reading.    Full Obituary

Dear brother-in-law of Mary Hogan of Lexington, Ann Wasko and her late husband, Paul of Lexington, Fred Conroy, and wife, Katherine of Lexington, Barbara Conroy and late husband, John Conroy of Woburn, the late Barbara Hamilton and husband, Joseph, Reverend Philip Conroy, and Thomas Conroy. Also survived by his companion, Carolyn Bunyon of Belmont; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Jimmy retired in 2005 from the City of Cambridge Facilities Director. Longtime parishioner and volunteer at St. John’s Church in North Cambridge. Late Army and Marine Corps Veteran. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, July 12, from 4-7 pm in St. John’s Church, 2254 Mass Ave., in North Cambridge.
