Rick Wilson was the son of Harry Wilson, a police sergeant, and Jean Wilson (née McDiarmid), a bookkeeper. Rick was born in the town of Forfar, which is located in Scotland. After completing his studies at Montrose academy, he began working at the Montrose Standard at the age of sixteen. He moved back to Amsterdam in 1978 and worked as the deputy editor of the English-language magazine Holland Life from 1978 to 1980. In 1974, he moved back to London to take over as managing editor of Time and Tide magazine, but he jumped at the opportunity to move back to Amsterdam. When I was working at the Holland Herald for a few years, that’s where I first met him. Read More
