2. Margaret Mary Flannery Obituary, of Mahanoy Plane – Death
On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Margaret Mary Flannery “Peggy” (née Burke), who resided in Norristown, passed away in a calm and tranquil manner. She had reached the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Flannery, Sr., and was born on January 17, 1925 in Mahanoy Plane, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary (née Murphy) Burke, who also passed away. Peggy and her late husband John were both active members of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown during the time that they were raising their son John Jr. in that community. It was a source of joy for her to accompany her husband on their excursions to the beach and to St. Simon’s Island. Peggy enjoyed going to the dance club and cheering for the Phillies.
Peggy is survived by her son John, J. Flannery Jr., Esq. and his wife Loretta, two grandkids named Sean Flannery and Kelly Flannery, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. Her two brothers, Joseph and Thomas Burke, and her two sisters, Claire Gallagher and Loretta Stephens, passed away before her. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. On Saturday, October 30, from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM, there will be a celebration of Peggy’s life, which will be followed by her funeral service at 10:30 AM. Both events will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 600 Hamilton St. in Norristown. The burial will be private and carried out at the family’s earliest convenience. Read more
