Thomas “Tom” Allen Nikolai Obituary: Thomas “Tom” Allen Nikolai, 76 years old, unexpectedly passed away at the Ripon Community Hospital on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was a resident of Princeton. On August 13, 1945, Tom Nikolai was born to his parents, Bernard and Mildred (Salzwedel) Nikolai, at their home in Montello. He graduated from Montello High School and went on to get a job at the Montello Granite Quarry after graduation. Tom was a diligent worker; in addition to his job at Alliance Laundry in Ripon, he also learned how to engrave granite monuments from a local company that specialized in the craft. While he was employed in Ripon, he continued his work lettering monuments. Eventually, he moved to Princeton and established the company that is now known as Waltom Memorials LLC. After almost 35 years of service at Alliance Laundry, Tom eventually decided to retire, and in 2004, he parted ways with his son and daughter-in-law by selling them the family monument business. Tom continued to be a familiar face at the monument shop, where he continued to greet customers with the same warm smile and gracious demeanor. On August 30, 1980, Tom wed the woman who would become the love of his life, Judy Zink, at their home in Princeton. They have shared many wonderful experiences together thanks to the blessings of God. Ice fishing, taking trips, being with his family, and getting together with his friends for a morning coffee clutch were all activities that he looked forward to doing. Tom was a devout follower of the Catholic faith, and he attended services at the St. John the Baptist Church in Princeton. People will remember him for the fact that he was always busy, that he was willing to help others, that he had a contagious laugh, and that he had a sense of humor.    Full Obituary
