1. Newell Kay Thornton Death, Born in Salt Lake City, Utah – Obituary

His childhood home was in Draper, and he went to Jordan High School, where he participated in the Track and Basketball, FFA, Play, and Traveling Assembly extracurricular activities. In 1951, he received his diploma. After graduating from high school, he continued his education at Brigham Young University and received a bachelor’s degree in cartography there. Soon after he obtained his diploma, he was called up for active duty in the United States Army. He was stationed at the Army Chemical Weapons Center in Edgewood, Maryland, for a period of two years before being given an honorable discharge.

Newell tied the knot with Joyce Jane Hess on the 23rd of September, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple, and the couple went on to have a total of five children together. His principal field of professional endeavor was engineering, and he spent the majority of his career working in the aerospace business. His area of expertise was quality assurance, and he worked there. His lifelong interest in motorcycles, which he pursued enthusiastically up to the age of 89, was his driving force. Read more

 

2. Kay Espy Thornton Death – Obituary

After a life that was devoted to serving God to the best of her ability, Kay passed away on October 22, 2021, and was received with open arms by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Kay was a Tulsa Central Braves Class of 1953 alumni who took great pride in their accomplishments. Kay spent her first two years at Baylor University before transferring to Oklahoma State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1957. She treasured lifelong friendships with her beloved pals from Oklahoma throughout her entire life.

The sole child of Craig and Margaret Espy was a girl named Kay. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Johnny; daughter, Claire Kreifels (and her husband Danny); son, Robert (and his wife Joanne); son, Craig (and his wife Ashley); and son, Andy, all of the cities of Boerne, Waco, and San Antonio. All of Kay’s grandchildren, Kendra Vita, Jake Kreifels, Emily Rawls, Lincoln Kreifels, and Nick Thornton, absolutely adored their Nonnie. Kay had five grandchildren in total.
