If Mike and Christa had been married on November 14, this year, they would have celebrated 42 years of marriage. Mike’s birth took place on July 13, 1960, in Peoria, Illinois. His parents were Wanda Lee (Davis) Shore and the late Marvin D. Shore. He earned his high school diploma from Salem Community High School in 1979, his associate’s degree from Ivy Tech Community College in 1981, and his master’s degree in education from Indiana State University in later years.
He worked as an electrician for SIGECO and also served as the vocational electricity teacher at EVSC, collaborating closely with the local businesses and IBEW Local 16. Beyond the Veil, Fellowship is a faith community that is based on outreach, and Mike and Christa started it and pastor it. Mike served as a mentor to a large number of young people in his roles as a teacher and pastor. 2. Michael John Shore Obituary, of North Carolina – Death
Greensboro is considered to be Michael’s hometown. He was born and raised in the state of North Carolina. Both his home church, First Lutheran, and the Boy Scouts were foundational to his faith and the man he grew up to become: kind; generous; humble; always putting the needs of others before his own. He was active in both of these organizations throughout his life. His intended course of professional development took him to Virginia Tech, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and completed his education. His willingness to provide technical support for friends at Virginia Tech paid off the day he met his wife of nearly 15 years, Julie. They have been married for almost 15 years now.
Michael maintained his commitment to a life marked by religious observance and selfless service throughout his time as an active member of the Lutheran Student Movement at Luther Memorial Church. It was in this context that he developed a large number of significant and enduring friendships. He thoroughly enjoyed his time spent volunteering with the youth group and serving on the LSM-USA Council as the representative for the Blue Ridge Region. Michael remained in Virginia following his graduation and took a job with the LMI government consulting firm, where he served as a programmer analyst for a total of sixteen years. He enjoyed taking pictures, going to the beach with his family, and playing tabletop games in his spare time. Full Obituary
