The passing of former referee, president of the African Handball Confederation’s Playing Rules and Referee Commission, former IHF Playing Rules and Referee Commission member, and lecturer Mbaye Diagne Aime Mbengue at the age of 67 was announced to the International Handball Federation with great sadness. Mbaye Diagne Aime Mbengue, a former international referee who worked at the 1997 and 2001 IHF Men’s Junior World Championships.
Became a key figure in the handball community and helped to advance refereeing not just in his native Senegal but also across the entire African continent. Additionally helping to advance handball internationally has been his tireless effort for the IHF Playing Rules and Referee Commission. With the passing of Mbaye Diagne Aime Mbengue, the handball family loses a great figure and on behalf of the International Handball Federation, IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa would like to convey his deepest condolences to his family and friends. Glenn, ne Walsh, a well-known and respected doctor, professor of nursing, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on January 26, 2014, at the age of 76, in Naperville, Illinois’ Edward Hospital. She will always be remembered as the cherished wife of the late Robert Glenn, with whom she had 39 years of marriage and a 14-year marriage; the cherished mother of Molly Glenn (Babacar Mbengue), Patrick (Carrie), and Christopher Glenn; and the adored grandmother (or grand-mère) of Tristan and Colin Glenn, Alioune, and Fatou Mary Mbengue.
She graduated from Saint Ambrose College in Davenport, IA with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1959 and started her career in nursing. Her studies continued with the completion of a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Illinois in 1966. Finally, after years of hard work and simultaneously managing a career, motherhood and her pursuit of a higher education, she proudly completed her Doctorate of Philosophy from University of Illinois in 1987.
