The team at Newcastle Falcons received some incredibly sad news recently about one of our employees. 20-year-old Lulu Blundell who works in the club ticket office and club shop has sadly been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite the news, Lulu’s attitude and approach to life has been inspirational. She has been doing some amazing work raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust – a charity which helps people going through some of the toughest times of their lives. Lulu is amazing person and a true credit to our team. The whole Falcons Family will be coming together over the coming weeks to support her, including dedicating our home fixture against Bristol Bears Rugby to her fundraising efforts. DR. PETER BLUNDELL August 21, 1928 – August 4, 2022 After bravely battling vascular dementia and, more recently, Covid-19, Peter died away in the 93rd year of his life in a serene environment surrounded by his beloved family. He was 93. Peter personified the ideal provider for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Marni, and a loving father to his daughter, Cathy, as well as his two sons, Jamie (Tiffany), and Andrew (Julia). A loving grandfather who dotes on his five granddaughters and is affectionately referred to by them as “Poppa Pete.” His granddaughters’ names are Bianca, Katarina, Chloe, Saskia, and Thea. Uncle to a large number of Bill’s nieces and nephews, as well as cherished brother to Bill (Monique).
Many people in Montreal, Toronto, Knowlton, and Cedar Point on Georgian Bay consider him to be a friend. Nancy, his sister, passed away before him. Peter was a lifelong sports enthusiast who enjoyed skiing, golfing, and tennis far into his nineties. He would spend the summers at Cedar Point, which is located on Georgian Bay, and his weekends (and eventually his retirement) in Knowlton, which is located in Quebec. He was a skilled and competent gardener, and the grounds of his Knowlton property were just stunning thanks to his work. He had a passion for the arts and worked as a watercolorist throughout his life; the paintings he created are highly regarded by his loved ones. He had a passion for seeing the world and gaining an understanding of its myriad inhabitants and civilizations. Source
