“It’s with a heavy heart that we inform everyone of the passing of Retired Undersheriff Kevin Evans. Undersheriff Evans passed away at his Clinton home on 9/6/2022 shortly after noon due to illness. Kevin served the people of Custer County from 1989 until 2022 when he retired. Kevin served as a Patrol Deputy, Sergeant, Investigator, and Undersheriff during his over 32 years with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office. It was rare to find someone to who Kevin didn’t know who they were and to who they were related. Kevin was a great friend and role model and will be missed by all who knew him. Please keep his family in your prayers. Funeral services will be announced when they become available.” Source

His brother Joe Coyle, as well as his sisters Rosemary Coyle Geisler (Leonard Schiendelman) and Megan Helster, will carry on his legacy after his passing (Paul Helster). He was the Great Uncle of eight nieces and nephews in addition to being the Uncle to Stephanie Twohig, Joseph Coyle, Andrew Coyle, Karen Ross, Eileen Geisler, Lisa Geisler, Shannon Smothers, and Sean Helster. In December of 2005, Kevin relocated to Fort Lauderdale, where he started working at the Sunrise Bible Training Center, which is a division of Mission Teens, Inc. Most recently, he held the position of Assistant to the Assistant Director there.
During his sixteen years of service at the Mission, Kevin’s compassionate, understanding, and gentle demeanor was a source of strength for everyone who worked there. He was completely devoted to the work of the mission and to serving the Lord. Kevin was a devoted follower of the Philadelphia sports teams, and he never missed a chance to watch or go to a game when he had the opportunity.
