2. Kenneth Floyd Mills Death, of Quitman – Obituary
After a relatively short bout with cancer, Kenneth Floyd Mills, Sr. passed away on December 11, 2021 and went to be with the Lord. He had made it to the ripe old age of eighty-three. He was the seventh of nine children to be born to Joseph and Thelma Mills and was the product of a Quitman, Arkansas birth. After graduating from high school, he went on to become a top track athlete at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, which is now known as the University of Central Arkansas. He was given a release with distinction as an SP4 E4, having achieved awards for his outstanding performance as a marksman and his expertise with the auto pistol. In 1961, Kenneth became engaged to Kathryn Kennett, whom he had previously met. The family relocated to Flint, Michigan, in 1964 after Ken was offered a job at the Chevy V8 Engine plant there. There, they brought up their brood of six children while making a life for themselves. In 1998, they got a divorce.
