James Douglas Posey Columbia, South Carolina: On Sunday, July 24, 2022, James “Jim” Posey, who was 80 years old, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy Ophelia and Howard DeVaudrey Posey, both of whom predeceased him, were his parents when he was born on December 17, 1941 in Richland County, South Carolina. Jim was a devout follower of the teachings taught at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He had served in the United States Army National Guard in the past. Jim enjoyed a prosperous career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, where he worked for the better part of 45 years and received several accolades, including those of Resident Construction Engineer of the Year (1987) and Headquarters Management Employee of the Year (1994). After he had retired, he continued to work for Civil Engineering Consulting Services for another three years. He delighted in activities such as researching the history of his family, watching westerns on television, working on home improvement projects, and spending time with his grandchildren.
