1. John Rauch Obituary, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Death

John K. Rauch, a retired award-winning architect, co-founder and managing partner of the Venturi & Rauch architectural firm, and painter, passed away on August 16 from end-stage dementia at Brandywine Hall in West Chester. He was 91 years old. John K. Rauch was from Philadelphia. Mr. Rauch oversaw the strategy, project management, construction, finances, contracts, and client relations of the prestigious firm Venturi, Rauch & Scott Brown from 1964, when he and architect Robert Venturi established Venturi & Rauch in Philadelphia, until 1987, when he resigned as a partner of Venturi, Rauch & Scott Brown. During this time, the firm was known as Venturi, Rauch & Scott Brown.

Mr. Rauch was instrumental in the acquisition of hundreds of contracts for renowned institutional designs in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. He was known for “his masterful grasp of the totality of architecture,” and he served as a gregarious role model to younger members of the workforce. The company went from having fewer than 50 employees and billings of $2.5 million in 1986 to having 75 employees and billings of $8 million in 1987 thanks to the contributions of Venturi and his wife, Denise Scott Brown, who were responsible for the creation of many of the designs, and Rauch, who oversaw day-to-day operations. 2. John Kleparek Jr. Obituary, of Maumee – Death

The death occurred on April 19, 2022 of John Kleparek, Jr., age 95, who resided in Maumee. On August 3, 1926, he was welcomed into the world in Toledo by his parents, John and Frances (Nowak) Kleparek, Sr. After completing his high school education at Woodward in 1943 and enrolling in the United States Navy right away, he participated in World War II as a Seabee in the Pacific theater until the end of the war in 1946. He was a talented violinist, and he had always placed a significant emphasis on the role that music played in his life. Her death occurred on October 16, 1992, after she had been married for 43 years.

After serving in the Navy, he entered the civilian workforce and held a number of sales positions, including those in the piano department of Grinnell Bros. and Bleckner Music, prior to becoming a co-owner of and operator for Kay-Howard Pianos & Organs. Before he retired in 1988, he also sold furniture at J. L. Hudson’s and The Lion Store in addition to working as a sales associate at Tiedtke’s Department Store, where he was responsible for selling major appliances. On June 25, 1949, he entered into a marriage with Mary Eileen Kleparek. Other members of his family, including his parents, his sister Helen Taber, and his daughter-in-law Robin Kleparek, passed away before him.
