1. John S. Pappas Obituary, born in Massillon – Death
After 33 years of service at the State of Ohio Mental Health Hospital in Massillon in the position of Police Chief, John took early retirement in the year 2000. Both St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon and the AHEPA chapter that meets there were part of his religious affiliations. He cherished his role as a father and the time he got to spend with his offspring and grandchildren. John had a lot of fun basking in the rays of the sun, going to the beach, and visiting Las Vegas. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will go on forever.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Pappas; his brothers, Pete and Leo Pappas; and his sisters, Mary Pappas and Sophia Diamant. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Pappas of Canton, who is married to Jessica, his daughter, Wendy “Sis” Pappas of Canton, who is married to Brian Morris, four grandchildren named Travis Tucholski, Alexis Gilbert-Tucker, Gavin Pappas, and Emma Pappas, his sister-in-law, Virginia Pappas, and his brother-in-law, Gust Diamant. 2. Theodore L. “Ted” Pappas Obituary, born in New Haven – Death
He was the son of George Pappas and Dorothy Pappas, who both passed away. After receiving his diploma from Amity Regional Senior High in 1967, Ted continued his education at Norwalk State Technical College, where he earned an associate’s degree in 1971. After 38 years of service as an IT Manager for SNET/SBC/AT&T, Ted took early retirement in January 2010. After he retired, his favorite ways to pass the time were playing golf and going on vacation with his wife, Dorcee, as well as his extended family and other friends.
In his later years, you might frequently find him working alongside his brother Mike in a number of occupations, and Ted never passed up an opportunity to present himself as “the younger, better-looking brother!” Ted Pappas is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorcee; his two daughters, Elizabeth-Ann Pappas and Bryan Hall Sr. of West Haven and Sarah Beth Garrison of Milford; his brothers, Michael and Gail Pappas of Guilford and Paul and Lesley Pappas of Plymouth, NC; his sister and brother-in-law and best friend.
