On October 15, 2018, John Johnson, who was 60 years old and lived in Hyannis, passed away unexpectedly. Johnny is at last at rest and is looking down on all of us with the same joy that he shared with his family—his mother, Jeanne Mulry Johnson, his father, James H. Johnson, Jr., M.D., and his brother, Jimmy. He will be remembered as a wonderful buddy, a raconteur of wild tales, and someone who had the ability to make you grin and laugh at any given moment.

When he told his own jokes or anecdotes, he frequently laughed first and then more heartily than anybody else in the room did. He was a huge fan of the beaches of Cape Cod, Schoodic Lake, and any sport or game in which he had an advantage, which was the vast majority of them, as well as all of his Barnstable and Boston sports teams. John Franklin Johnson was the son of James F. Johnson and Katherine Jones Johnson. He was born on December 27th, 1945 in Racine, Wisconsin. It was on November 25, 1978, that he tied the knot with Laurie Smaglick Johnson, who would go on to become his wife of forty-three years, his closest friend for fifty years, and his partner in adventure for all those years. After having a wonderful day spending it doing the things he enjoyed the most, he passed away calmly in the comfort of his own home in the town of Burlington on June 18, 2022.

He was sitting in his favorite seat on the sofa watching some of his favorite shows on TV. John was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Lance Corporal and demolition engineer. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Medal of Good Conduct for his service in the Marine Corps. John graduated from Park High School and Gateway Technical College. He had a wealth of experience in the welding, fabricating, and operating of machines.
