1. John Greenan Obituary, of Orland Park – Death
A pedestrian, age 53, who was struck and killed by a Metra train in Mokena, Illinois, has been identified. According to the office of Will County Coroner Laurie Summers, the death of John Greenan, who resided in Orland Park, was confirmed around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday approximately a half mile northeast of 191st Street in Mokena. Greenan was hit by a train traveling in the other direction on the Rock Island line at approximately 6:40 p.m. that same day, according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis. The city of Chicago can be reached from Joliet via the Rock Island line.
Gillis stated that Greenan was strolling along the track that is located between La Grange Road and 191st Street. The Metra Police Department is continuing their investigation into the incident that occurred. According to Summers’ office, the definitive cause of Greenan’s death as well as the manner in which he passed away will be determined after a final assessment of an autopsy as well as findings from the police and toxicologists.
