Jeff Cason Death and Obituary; Martha Henn mourn the death of Jeff in a Facebook post. Reacting to the passing fo Cason, Henn while tagging Earlham College Class of 1985 said ‘Earlham friends, there are no words gentle enough to ease the shock of this loss. I am sharing the devastating news that Jeffrey Cason ’84 died on Thursday evening, July 14, after a brief but intense affliction with cancer. His chemotherapy was very hard on him and landed him in the hospital last week with the added complications of infection and pneumonia, and he was overwhelmed by it all.’
‘Please surround our beloved Gail Borden ‘84 and their children Elias and Sophia Manzi, and Gabriel Cason, with the love and support they will need. Jeff and Gail had a marvelous, adventure-filled life together with their children, and I am certain the transition through this unreasoning loss will be so very hard. For those who knew her, Jeff’s mother died a few years ago but he is survived as well by his father Neal Cason and stepmother Linda Cason, and his brothers Tim, Chris, and Brian, and sister Stephanie. The family is planning a celebration of life, likely for next Saturday, July 23, in Middlebury, VT.’
‘Jeff served Middlebury College brilliantly for many, many years, and was Executive Vice President & Provost, and Knox Professor of International Studies, at the time of his passing. News of his passing is reverberating through his professional communities. While his professional accomplishments are many, and impressive, I have the great joy and privilege of remembering him from the days of our youth, with all the antics and intensities that youth conveys. And I can hear his laugh, which remained as infectious as it always was, in my head and heart, at this moment.
In our Earlham way, join me in holding each other, and all those who knew and loved Jeff, especially his family, in the light.’
