1. Jed William Danahay obituary, of Nanango – Death

Mr. Jimmie Lynn Dawson, 83, passed away on September 4, 2021 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky. He was a resident of Calvert City, Kentucky. He was the son of the late William A. Dawson and the late Opal Mae (Calhoun) Dawson, and he was born on February 24, 1938 in Pickwick, Tennessee. Both of his parents have now passed away. Mr. Dawson started out in sales with Commonwealth Life Insurance Company, where he eventually became Sales Manager. He then moved on to pursue other opportunities. In later years, he would become an employee at Mayer Myers Paper Company, where he would remain for the subsequent 30 years.

Following his retirement, he took a job at the USEC in West Paducah, Kentucky, where he remained employed for several years. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters in addition to being a member of the Linton Lodge No. 783, F&AM, Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, F&AM, and Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville, Kentucky. He was a member of these organizations for a combined total of sixty years. Over the course of more than 40 years, Mr. Dawson served in the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Sharpe/Possum Trot Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, participating in golf tournaments, watching basketball games at the University of Kentucky, and attending his granddaughter Janie’s games for the Lady Marshals. Source


2. Raymond F. Danahay Obituary, U.S Navy– Death

On June 9, 2022, Raymond F. Danahay, who had reached the age of 93, passed away at his home. Virginia Feltmann Danahay, Raymond’s devoted wife of 51 years and the person he loved the most, passed away before him. His two children, Daniel Danahay (who is married to Monique) and Kim Stern (who is married to Philip), as well as his five grandkids, Patrick (who is married to Catie) and Preston Danahay, Eric, Nicholas, and Amy Stern, survive him. Raymond worked for Western Electric for a significant portion of his life after graduating from both S.J. Peters High School and Loyola University. Between the years 1950 and 1953, he was stationed at the United States Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Virginia, while serving in the United States Navy.

Raymond was given the “Most Valuable Player Award” by Rear Admiral Rufus Rose in August 1953 for his performance in the Atlantic Fleet Baseball Tournament, which was held in Norfolk at the time. The award was presented to Raymond by Rose. He was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and played outfield for Abbeville in the Evangeline League during his time with the team. Raymond was a dedicated member of a wide variety of groups, including the Diamond Club, American Legion Post 175, and AARP Chapter 4924, among others.
