1. Jamie Adams Death, Facebook Tribute– Obituary

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of retired Sheriff Jamie Adams. Sheriff Adams passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, in the early morning hours. Sheriff Adams served the citizens of Sumter County from 1981 to 1996, with 4 terms as Sumter County Sheriff. Sheriff Farmer and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office wish to offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Sheriff Farmer states “I worked for Sheriff Adams for 16 years the last 5 as his Chief Deputy. He was a great man and a great Sheriff. I enjoyed working for him, he was specifically significant with influencing my career as Sheriff for Sumter County. Our prayers are with his family.” The family has asked that their privacy be respected as they go through the grieving process. A funeral service will be held for immediate family at a later date. 2.James F. Adams Death, of Wilmington – Obituary

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, James F. “Jamie” Adams, who resided in Wilmington and was 72 years old, passed away. Jamie Mitchell Adams’ parents, James Mitchell Adams and Dixie Ivey Adams Barrington, welcomed him into the world on July 27, 1949 in Lumberton, North Carolina. After thirty years of service in the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Jamie took early retirement from the agency. After he retired, he continued to be involved in his community and traveled extensively with his wife to various locales so that they could both work at a variety of county fairs. Coastal Show Services was a business that he was running at the time. Jamie was a brother in the Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Wilmington Lodge No. 319.

Jamie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gail Long Adams; step-daughters Jenny Britt (James) and Lisa Osborne; grandchildren Tanner Britt, Samantha Miller, and Jordon Britt; and great grandchildren Tannely Miller and Brittlynn Miller; two sisters Nancy Coble and Mary Jones; and brother-in-law Ernie Long; along with nieces, nephews, and other members of Jamie’s extended family; and his special canine companion “Houston.” Joey Adams, his brother, passed away before him and is remembered by those who knew him. At the Wilmington Funeral Chapel on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service performed in honor of the deceased.   Read more
