“The Wytheville Police Department sends our condolences to the family and friends of James “Jack” Crosswell Sr., we are saddened to learn of his passing on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022.
He lived a full life in his 93 years, he was a true friend to local law enforcement. Being a retired “Law Man” himself he loved talking to all the law enforcement in the area and sharing his “tall tales” of crime fighting, his time as a sailor, Korean war veteran, flying onto the beach in the Outer Banks NC, author, newspaper journalist, and a variety of his colorful life adventures.
We all enjoyed his humorous newspaper columns in the Wytheville Enterprise, where no one was safe from being a character in one of his fictional stories, always ending with “She’s a big woman, mumbled No Fenders McGee.” Rest in Peace Jack, we will miss you.
