Before enrolling in the Naval Academy Preparatory School, he received his preparatory education at the Randolph-Macon Academy, located in Front Royal, Virginia. There, he completed both middle school and high school (NAPS). After completing his year at NAPS, he was granted a nomination by the president to continue his education at the United States Naval Academy.
