On Tuesday, August 2, close to Enos Lake in the Absaroka Mountains of Wyoming, a man who was known to everyone as “Jack” passed away. Lightning struck Jack while he was participating in an outdoor course with the National Outdoor Leadership School to become a Wilderness First Responder (NOLS). He was just 22 years old, powerful, and handsome, and he possessed a spirit that was both compassionate and generous, which enabled him to connect with others. Jack Murphy spent his childhood years at Park Street School on Beacon Hill, attending the nursery school and elementary school there. His younger sisters also attended this school, which served as an important spiritual and friend community for the entire Murphy family. Jack received his middle school education at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols (BB&N), and his high school education at Boston College High School, from which he graduated in 2018 and was a proud member of the school’s rugby team. Jack Murphy Obituary, of East Dover: Jack Murphy, who was 90 years old and lived in East Dover, passed away on January 25, 2022, at home, with his family by his side. His children wish to express their condolences to those who knew and loved him. He was the only son of the late Allen Murphy and Hermance (Thibideau) Murphy, and he was born in Halifax. After 35 and a half years of service, Dad ultimately decided to retire from CNR. In his younger days, he spent a lot of time hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV with his friends, and they went on quite a few excursions to Cape Breton. He had a lot of fun constructing what he called the “Highway to Heaven,” which was a wooden boardwalk leading to the various cabins and camps around Power’s Lake. Although he was born in Martinsville, Indiana, he spent the majority of his childhood in Syracuse. After receiving his diploma from Henninger High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and became a Military Policeman during his service in the Vietnam War. After selling his business of 40 years, Murphy’s Lock and Alarm Company, Jack went into retirement in the year 2018. After he retired, he and his wife took pleasure in going on vacations, but what he looked forward to the most was spending time with his grandchildren. Jack was a devoted family man who cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. His parents, John and Martha Murphy, as well as his brothers, David and Arthur Murphy, passed away before he was born. Those left behind include his devoted wife of 53 years, Judy (Pascuzzi) Murphy; his son, John (Karla) Murphy; his daughter, Maureen (Richard) Franco; his grandchildren, Emma, Kaylin, Lucy Murphy, Mason, Max, and Morgan Franco; his brothers, Dan (Diane) Murphy and Bob (Betsy) Murphy; his sisters, Mary Meyers, Patricia Murphy and Katie (John) Ankiewicz; and numerous nieces and nephew.
