2. Jack Allen Grady Obituary, of Austin, Texas – Death
Jack Allen Grady, age 94, of Austin, Texas, died away calmly on August 12, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living in Westlake, surrounded by the affectionate company of his children. He was a resident of Austin. Jack was raised in Oklahoma and West Texas, spending his summers as a child working on his Uncle Sam’s farm in Oklahoma. Jack was born on September 5, 1926, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the late Ervin Grady and Blanche Grady (Bryant). His parents passed away on September 5, 1926. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of “The Greatest Generation.” From 1944 to 1946, he served as a sonarman on the USS Orleck, a Gearing-class destroyer, in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University. Subsequently, he attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, to receive his Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He started his working life with Union Carbide Corporation in Charleston, West Virginia. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathryn Neenan. They were both members of an adult Catholic group that was held at Sacred Heart Parish in Charleston. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1953, the couple exchanged vows, and they remained married until Kathy’s passed away in December 2020. He worked his entire life for Union Carbide, holding a variety of jobs and taking on a wide range of duties. Read More
