1.Harold R. Mugler Death, Of  Clay Center – Obituary

It has been determined that a man passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a collision involving a school bus that took place in Clay Center on Tuesday morning. Harold R. Mugler, 69, of Clay Center, was pronounced dead at the site of a tragic school bus accident, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log. The collision resulted in the death of at least one student. According to information provided by Clay County Schools USD 379, a collision involving a pedestrian and a school bus took place in Clay Center on the morning of Tuesday, September 20. It was said that there were no pupils riding the bus at the time when the tragedy occurred.

A little after seven in the morning, USD 379 staff members alerted the general public and mentioned that they are cooperating with local law enforcement and emergency officials. The location of the accident, according to Trooper Ben Gardner, was near the junction of 6th Street and Lincoln. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, many Troopers are currently present and will continue the investigation once they have finished their work. 2. Guy Ware Mugler Death, – Obituary

On January 11, 2022, Guy Ware Mugler, who was 83 years old and the widower of Patricia Alice Mugler, passed away. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1957, served for three years in the United States Army, and then attended the IBEW Apprenticeship School, from which he graduated in 1964. He has lived in Phoebus his entire life and is a local of the town. Guy was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 1340 for the entire 60 years of his life. Over the course of thirty years, he served in various capacities in the Civil Service at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Fort Eustis, and Fort Monroe with the Corps of Engineers. After he retired, he began working for NASA in the maintenance department.

He was a helpful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he volunteered his time in the maintenance department and worked as an usher. David Alan Mugler, Guy’s son, as well as his siblings Christopher C. Mugler, Hamlet M. Mugler, Julia M. Mugler, and Harry O. Mugler, died before Guy. Guy was the last of his family members to pass away. He is survived by his brother Thomas Mugler; his daughters Betty Lou Carper-Steel (Jeff) and Laura Anne Jones (Edward); his grandchildren Samantha Milam, Casandra Jones, Kyle Carper, Katelyn Steel, Wyatt and Carson Jones, Gavin Towner, Kailee, Ashley, and Guy Mugler; and his great-grandchildren Cadence Milam and Wesley Jones.   Read  more
