Hana Zagorová, a legendary vocalist from the Czech Republic who won the Golden Nightingale award nine times, has passed away at the age of 75. Ms. Zagorova had been experiencing health issues for a considerable amount of time prior to September 2020, when she became infected with coronavirus, which made her symptoms significantly worse. Because of the state she was in, she had to cancel all of her employment commitments beginning in August of last year.

Hana Zagorová had a lengthy and successful career, during which she sang approximately 900 different songs, participated in various musical ensembles, and gave performances at both the Apollo and the Semafor theatres. This makes her the second most successful artist in the history of the award, trailing only Lucie Blá, who won the successor award, esk slavk, thirteen times. Zagorová first came to the public’s attention in 1963 when she competed in the singing competition Hledáme nové talenty (Seeking New Talent), where she was backed by the orchestra of Gustav Brom.

Zagorová attended the Janáek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno from 1964 until 1968 when she received her diploma. Her area of concentration was acting. In 1968, she made her debut with the recording of the song “Pr jsem zraná,” which translates to “They Say I’m Debauched.” Zagorová is considered to have been one of the most famous vocalists to come out of the Czech Republic.
