1. George A. Couvall Death, of Gurnee, IL – Obituary

On September 14, 2022, George A. Couvall, age 76, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away at home surrounded by his family. He had lived in Gurnee all of his life. In 1964, George received his diploma from North Chicago High School. At the Waukegan YMCA’s “Hang Out” dance, he introduced himself to Jacquelyn Smith, who would later become the love of his life. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Their son George and Jenny, who is also their daughter-in-law, have been blessed with two sons: Georgie (18) and Billy (17).

His grandkids brought him nothing but joy, and they cherished the time they got to spend with their “Pappou.” They had a lot of fun together going fishing, watching movies, going on trips, going to baseball games, and driving all the way to Chicago for some delicious deep-fried shrimp. George was a member of the Illinois National Guard and was called up to active duty during the Chicago Riots of 1968. He was also called up for the Democratic National Convention, which was held in Chicago at the same time. Read More

 

2. Loverne G. Couvall Death, a lifelong resident of North Chicago – Obituary

Loverne was a devout member of the St. Demetrois Greek Orthodox Church and had lived in North Chicago and Waukegan for the entirety of his life. Her heritage as well as her religious beliefs have always been and will continue to be an essential and reliable source of direction and support. Loverne cherished her family more than anything else in the world. She was reared with her seven siblings by her devoted parents, who served as her support system and unwavering basis throughout her life.

In 1954, Loverne received his high school diploma from Waukegan Holy Child High School. After graduating from high school, she found employment at Couvall’s Food Market in Waukegan, where she became an integral member of the family enterprise. She worked as a clerk in the Lake County Court House beginning in 1964 and continuing until 1997. During that time period, she was a devoted member of the Daughters of Penelope Foundation, where she took part in a variety of charitable activities.  Read more
