It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our colleague and friend, Retired Detective Frederick J. Lavelle October 8, 1941 – September 9, 2022 September 9, 2022, of Buffalo NY, age 80. Fred was raised and educated in the shadow of Our Lady of Victory Basilica. He remained devoted to Our Lady and her Son for his entire life. He loved classical organ music and volunteered with the restoration of many pipe organs in Western NY. He was a retired Police Detective with the Amherst Police Department,
where he was known to be a conscientious gentleman who treated all with dignity and courtesy. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 27 from 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 pm at the Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Dr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in St. Gregory the Great Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Williamsville at 10:30 a.m. Please assemble at the Church. Entombment at S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Williamsville. In lieu of flowers, please choose a charity of your choice. Source

2. Lorraine Lavelle Death, of Scranton – Obituary

Lorraine C. Lavelle, who was 84 years old and had most recently lived in Frederick, Maryland but was originally from Scranton, passed away on Wednesday at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was a widow after her husband, Gerald F. Lavelle, passed away on July 2, 1974. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelist Church in Frederick, as well as a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Scranton. She was also a graduate of West Scranton High School. She was born in Scranton and was the daughter of the late Daniel P. and Laura C. Wirth Needham. Her parents both passed away. She worked at Hughes Network in Gaithersburg, Maryland, for many years prior to her retirement.

Two sons and their wives, Daniel P. and Amanda, and Michael and Kimberly, all of Frederick, Maryland, are among the survivors. Also surviving are two daughters, Susan A. King of Columbia, South Carolina, and Lori Anne Lavelle and companion Deborah Martin of Greencastle. Additionally, there are six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. One of her sons-in-law, Richard H. King, Jr., as well as three of her brothers, Edgar, Paul, and Harry Needham, and one of her sisters, Elizabeth Carroll, passed away before she did. Funeral services will be held on Monday, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1240 St. Ann Street, Scranton.  Read  more
