Fred Astaire Obituary, Omaha, Nebraska: The passing of Fred Astaire stands out in my memory because it occurred around the same time as a significant professional achievement. I left the advertising agency, Young & Rubicam, after working there for close to six years to take a position as the media research manager at NWAyer (at the time, the oldest agency in the country). On the morning of June 22, 1987, the day I started my new job, Fred Astaire passed away at the age of 88. After returning from a get-to-know-you lunch, I was briefed on the news of his passing. Another thing that sticks out in my mind about that afternoon is hearing that a guest who was staying at the Warwick Hotel, which was directly across the street from the office, had committed suicide by jumping off the building. Frederick A. (Fred) Kephart Obituary, Binghamton, NY: Frederick A. (Fred) Kephart, who resided in Binghamton, New York, lost his courageous fight against a protracted illness on March 2, 2022 in the evening. He did so with the same FIGHTING spirit that he always displayed on a daily basis. He passed away in peace. Fred had recently celebrated his 78th birthday on February 3rd with family, food, and a race to see who could call him first. He was now on his way to his next adventure. We will remember him for many things: his love of fishing with his many friends, his artistic genius and his ability to fix or build anything, his work ethic and hard-driving spirit, the time he spent at their camp in Cape Vincent with his boat, and his appreciation for the warmth and sunshine in his condo in Clearwater, Florida. Despite the fact that he was well aware of the modest educational opportunities that were available to him, the extraordinary academic accomplishment of which he was most proud was receiving certification as a welding instructor from Purdue University and Wastenaw Community College in Michigan.
