Ludwig Diehn School of Music are saddened by the passing of Marilyn Forman, Instructor of Piano at the Diehn School of Music and the ODU Community Music Division. Ms. Forman taught piano at ODU since 1985 and was a member the Music Teacher’s National Association, the American College of Musicians, and was the Theory Chairman for the Tidewater Music Teachers Forum since 1988. Ms. Forman’s teaching and musical inspiration lives on through the many students that were fortunate to have learned from her. over the years. 2. Harold F. Ludwig Death, Of Brighton – Obituary

Harold F. Ludwig, age 92, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at his daughter’s residence in Brighton. He was a resident of Brighton. He was born in Brighton on March 4, 1921 to parents Christian P. and Violetta C. (née Gall) Ludwig. His parents were German immigrants. It was on June 18, 1949 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brighton that he and Betty Ann Schalinske exchanged vows and became husband and wife. They settled in New Munster in 1952 before making the journey to Brighton the following year. Betty passed away on December 29, 2012, two days before he did. From July 1942 until February 1946, Harold proudly served in the Navy, spending his time during World War II on the islands of Sipan and Tinian.

He looked forward to his annual CASU 44 Navy reunions with great anticipation. His entire professional life was spent employed for the Kenosha County Highway Department. He participated in both the Senile Citizens Golf League and the St. Francis Xavier Church, where he was an active member. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing in Alaska with his good friend “Red.” He collected Indian artifacts and enjoyed going on hunting and fishing trips. His children, Dianne Ludwig of Salem, Cheryl (Michael) Ladd of Brighton, Jacqueline (Gerald) Vanderwerff of Brighton, Gary Ludwig of Brighton, and Scott Ludwig of Boone, North Carolina, are the ones who carry on his legacy after his passing.  Read more
