“During such a difficult time, our hearts and wishes are with the families,” Gem County Sheriff Donnie Wunder said in a release. “Weare appreciative to all of the first responders & volunteers that assisted us in getting up on our legs.”

According to WBRZ, Jackson’s relatives claimed on social media that he and his fiancée tried to doggie paddle to a dock after missing their authorized river departure. However, the 6-foot-7 basketball player was swept away by the strong river.

Two days after Jackson vanished while rafting, the Gem County Sheriff’s Office warned about dangerous conditions on the Payette River.

Criner remembers a spectacular incident on the court that he predicts no one will forget anytime soon.

“I usually passed him the ball, and he dunked on someone, and we all climbed on him and screamed, and he spoke about it for the rest of the week.” He was a crazy player on the court, usually dancing and singing. He was constantly locked in, even when doing something outrageous.”
