The guy who was shot and murdered early Saturday, June 4 at an apartment complex in West Valley City has been identified, according to West Valley City Police.

Elijah Brown, 23, was the victim, according to a West Valley City Police statement.

Police were called to the E Gate apartments near 2900 Ruddy Way at 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, according to reports.

Officers came to find a huge number of people fleeing from one of the multi-story complex’s upper floors.

“Police were directed to a fourth-floor apartment, and officers entered,” Lt. Robert Brinton said. “There were two individuals, both of whom had several gunshot wounds in the mid-torso area.” Officers initiated life-saving procedures since one of them was in worse shape than the other.

“It was a bit of a tumultuous scene since there had been a party going on, so there were several individuals inside and outside the apartment,” Brinton recalled.

“Medical personnel arrived and were able to transport both of the males, both in their twenties, to Intermountain Medical Center. “One of the males died as a result of his injuries while at the hospital,” Brinton said.

In the early hours of the inquiry, officers from Sandy and Taylorsville aided WVCPD.

The investigation is still ongoing.
