As Director of Training at Gunsite Academy, Head taught shooting skills to thousands of law-abiding citizens, law enforcement officers and members of the military. Prior to his time a Gunsite, he served a full career an agent in the U.S. Border Patrol. Shooting Illustrated sends its heartfelt condolences to the Head family, his large circle of friends and all those who learned something from this master of teaching.

Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas is in charge of the private inurnment graveside services that will be placed at 10:00 AM on July 11, 2020, at the Dodd City Cemetery for Mr. Ed Head, who passed away at the age of 89 and resided in Dodd City. The ceremony will be presided over by his nephew, Larry Head. At some point on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, Mr. Head died away at the Texoma Medical Center located in Denison, Texas. Mr. Head, who was the son of Elby Oreon Head and Margaret Burchfield Head, was born on November 7, 1930 in Dermott, Arkansas. His parents were named Elby Oreon Head and Margaret Burchfield Head. On May 29, 1970, he tied the knot with Sharron Chapman. He held the position of Director of Manufacturing at Raytheon Corporation, where he worked.
He had a passion for collecting model trains and going on road excursions in recreational vehicles. He had been a member of the Dallas Masonic Lodge for a significant amount of time and was also a Shriner. His parents, his son DeWayne Head, who passed away on April 12th, 2020, his brother James Head, and his grandson Gary Head, who died in 2018, all passed away before him. He is survived by his wife Sharron Head of Dodd City, Texas, and sons, Danny Head of Lindale, Texas, Owen Head and wife Mary of Coppell, Texas, Robert Head of Big Spring, Texas and his daughters, Angela Head of Dallas and Arigayle Head and fiancé, Andrew Skinner of Argyle, TX, grandchildren, Natalie Head, Ashley Head, Kiefer Head, Morgan Kimbrell and husband Caleb, Danny Head, Jr., Rodney Head, Conner McBain and Grand-dog, Sally and numerous great-grandchildren.
