After a period of deteriorating health, Dorothy Morrissette, 91, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in the Augusta hospital. She was born on March 23, 1931, in Waterville. In 1949, she received her high school diploma from Waterville. Donald A. Morrissette and she were married for 40 years before he passed away in 1993. They enjoyed many pleasant years on Snow Pond in Sidney before being fortunate enough to retire and spend the winters in Florida, where it is warmer.
She is survived by her only child, Donna Witham and her husband David of Sidney, her grandson Kevin Foye of Oakland, and two great-grandsons, Corey Foye of Portland, and Collin Foye of Gardiner, sons of the late Tim Foye who passed away in 2009. She never stopped missing him. She had the biggest heart and was happiest when she could take care of us. We shall miss her terribly. She didn’t want any funeral service and will be buried at the Veteran’s Cemetery on Civic Center Drive, in Augusta. No date has been set. Read more

On June 25, 1928, Gladys Juanita Cupp was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She was a product of the late Frank Cupp and Ellen (Wilson) Cupp’s union. In Middlesboro, Kentucky, on June 9, 1945, Gladys wed Benton Standifer. In 1951, they relocated to the Monroe region in search of jobs. The couple raised five amazing children together. Gladys graduated from the Senior Adult Education Program in 2004 with her richly deserved high school diploma. Stewart Road Christian Ministries provided her with spiritual sustenance.
Gladys volunteered for numerous local organizations for many years, including The Shelter for Battered Women, RSVP, MCOP, Green Thumb, and she also served as a foster grandparent. She was honored as “Grandma of the Year” in 1989.Gladys was an extremely charitable person who often offered her services to help others. She was a laid-back individual who occasionally shown strong will. She read her Bible every day, sang in the church choir, and watched a variety of Christian television shows, all of which demonstrated her love for the Lord. Source
