Born Dorothy Mae Kilgallen in Chicago, Illinois on July 3, 1913; died under mysterious circumstances in New York City on November 7, 1965; eldest of two daughters of James Lawrence Kilgallen (a journalist) and Mae (Ahern) Kilgallen; attended grade school in Chicago, Indianapolis, and New York; graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, Brooklyn, 1930; attended the College of New Rochelle, New York; married Richard Kollmar (an actor and producer), on April 6, 1940; children

Dorothy Kilgallen is credited by some as being the best woman reporter of her time period. Dorothy and her younger sister Eleanor Kilgallen spent their childhood in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Brooklyn, New York. The Kilgallen family ultimately made their home in Brooklyn, New York, when Dorothy’s father James Kilgallen accepted a position with Hearst’s International News Service in New York City. Dorothy Ann Gonda Obituary, Boardman: Dorothy Ann Gonda, age 88, from Boardman, Ohio, passed away in a calm and peaceful manner on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2022, at Wickshire Poland. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Christina (Bakus) Korchnak and had spent her entire life in the Youngstown area. She was born on April 9, 1934 in the city of Youngstown. She started her education at Jackson Elementary School and continued it at Ursuline High School, where she graduated in 1952. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthias Church, where she was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows congregation and had done so for a number of years. Up until 1963, she was employed at AJAX Magnathermic in the position of secretary to the vice president. After taking some time off, she began working in the junior’s and women’s department of Sears Roebuck in 1971 as a salesclerk. Ermy, age 86, of 1190 County Route 66 in Hornell, New York, passed away on Tuesday, July 26 at the intensive care unit of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. She was the daughter of Frank and Edna (Norton) Secondo and was born in Hornell on the 31st of December in the year 1935. Dorothy’s childhood was spent in Hornell, and she received her high school diploma from Hornell High (class of 1954). She worked as a waitress at what was formerly the Cards Drug Store when she was in high school, and she was employed at what was formerly the Merrill Hosiery in Hornell for a total of 17 years. Dorothy worked as a baker at Hornell High School for a total of 25 years, during which time she provided the student body with a variety of delectable treats, including her world-famous peanut butter cookies, which are cherished by those who graduated from the school. In 2002, she took her retirement.
