After a valiant fight against renal disease, Donna Mae (Schmidt) Houn passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the age of 62, surrounded by family and friends. She had gained her heavenly wings on the day before. On Friday, September 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM, a Mass of Christian Burial will be performed in the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, which is located at 825 E. Broadway Ave in Bismarck. On Wednesday, August 31, visitation will be conducted from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, located at 2330 Tyler Parkway in Bismarck. Following the visitation, a rosary and vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. In Mandan, on the 29th of July in the year 1960, Donna Schmidt was brought into the world by her parents, Jacob and Cecelia (Fleck) Schmidt.
She obtained her General Equivalency Diploma (GED) after attending Mandan High School. In 1977, she was working at Bonanza when she first became acquainted with the man who would become the love of her life, David D. Houn Sr. On September 7, 1979, they exchanged vows in front of family and friends at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan. They are responsible for the upbringing of two children: DeNica and David Jr. She spent a significant portion of her career working in the food industry.
