Max died of heart failure on Monday, September 19, 2022at the University of Vermont Health Network Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh. He was 40-year-old at the time of his passing. The passing of Max has brought sadness and left the family mourning and agonizing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Max. After graduating from Au Sable Forks High School in 1954, he worked at the Au Sable Dairy for a number of years. He was then employed by the Town of Jay Highway Department for 22 years, during 14 of which he was the Superintendent of Highways. Mr.

Thwaits was a proud member of the Au Sable Forks Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and the outdoors in general.
