The woman who passed away following a collision in north Phoenix on Tuesday morning has been identified by police. Around 7 a.m., police were called to an SUV-pickup truck collision near the corner of 43rd Avenue and Bell Road. Deborah Connel, 72, was reportedly struck by a car traveling eastbound on Bell Road as she was pulling out of a private driveway and heading north, according to the police. Connel was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds later. Police conducted an evaluation of the second vehicle’s driver there, where they concluded that he was not intoxicated. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing. Source

After a protracted illness, Debra J. Connell, 60, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Crestline, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, October 1, 2012, at the Woodside Village Care Center. Debra Schmal was born on September 20, 1952, in Crestline, Ohio, to the late John and Velma (Mick) Schmal. She graduated from Crestline High School. Debra spent many years handling glass at Pittsburgh Glass Works in Crestline, which was formerly PPG Auto Glass. She belonged to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church as well.
On December 13, 2012, graveside services will be held at the Crawford County Memorial Gardens in Crestline at 10:00 a.m. A sincere “thank you” from Debra to each and every person at the Woodside Village Care Center for taking such good care of her and treating her like family.
