Charlbi Dean Kriek Death, Obituary

In a tragic turn of events, Charlbi Dean Kriek was killed in a car accident on August 29th, 2022. In October of 2008, both Dean and another model named Ashton Schnehage were fortunate enough to survive a car accident. She was admitted to the Milnerton Medi-Clinic for treatment. Since the beginning of the year (2018), Dean has been romantically involved with the model Luke Volker.

About Charlbi Dean Kriek

Dean was a well-known model and actress in South Africa. Her roles in the Spud films (2010–2013), the superhero drama series Black Lightning (2018), and the film that won the Palme d’Or for Best Foreign Language Film, Triangle of Sadness, brought her the most fame (2022).

Johan and Joanne Kriek brought their son Dean into the world and raised him in Cape Town. At the age of six, she launched a modeling career, during which she appeared in advertisements and catalogs. She became a homeschooled student at the age of 14 after signing a contract with Alfa Model Management when she was only 12 years old. As her career progressed, she found herself living and working in cities such as Tokyo, New York City, and London in addition to Cape Town, where she had attended a theatre school.

In the movie adaptation of Spud, which was released in 2010, Dean made her debut as an actress playing the role of Amanda. She went on to play the same character in the sequel Spud 2: The Madness Continues. After that, she went on to star in the movies Don’t Sleep (2017) and An Interview with God (2018) respectively.

In the same year, she was cast as Syonide, a recurring character on the DC Universe series Black Lightning, in which she appeared for a total of two seasons. It was announced in February of 2020 that Dean would be joining the cast of Triangle of Sadness, which was directed by Ruben Ostlund. Before Kriek left for the United States, she updated her social media accounts frequently with posts about her life in Cape Town. At that point, she absolutely dominated the scene at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Her professional life was moving along at a breakneck pace.

She stated that she was still getting used to the fame in an interview with Vogue and that she had no idea what to expect. Regardless, her personality was contagious and modest across all of her social media platforms. She is grounded in reality and is rarely separated from her friends, family, or the dog with the most peculiar appearance. Kriek and her long-term boyfriend recently announced their engagement.
