After a long battle with cancer, Deanna Jean Straach Greer of Zephyr died on September 20, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Services will be held at the Heartland Funeral Home on September 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in the Zephyr Cemetery. On Friday night, from 5 to 7, friends will be able to visit with the family at the funeral home. Eugene Straach and Lillian Patterson Straach had Deanna on November 7, 1943, in Dallas. She moved to Zephyr when she was a teenager.
There, she met the love of her life, Tommy (Richard T.) Greer, whom she married on May 27, 1961. They were able to celebrate being married for 61 years. Deanna went to Bethel Baptist Church in Zephyr. She enjoyed many social groups, like her Bunco, Canasta, and Bible study groups. She was a part of the Brownwood Women’s Club and the Brownwood Garden club. She also helped out as a volunteer at Brownwood Regional Hospital, the Animal Shelter Resale Shop, and Good Samaritan. Deanna Linnell Miller, 53, was our friend, sister, and daughter. On April 23, 2022, she died, which was very sad for those who loved her. Deanna was born on April 24, 1968, and she lived in Kennerdell, Pennsylvania, doing the things she loved. She was the daughter of Mary Miller of Kennerdell, Pennsylvania, and the late “Big Bob” Miller, who died in 2007.She finished Cranberry High School, the Jameson School of Nursing, and Penn State University in 1986.
She had a lot of skills. Her desire to make our community better was strong. Kindness and generosity were just two of the great things about her. Music was a big part of her life, and we were lucky to have her sing, play, and write songs with Nancy LeRoy as part of the duo “The Ryver Nymphs.” She was Penn Vet’s senior sales manager. She was the best at navigating the river, and she loved to hike, bike, swim, and fish. She didn’t like crabs or hellgrammites, but she liked dogs a lot.Source
