1. Dawson Overweg Death, Motorcycle accident – Obituary
It has been determined that the person who passed away on Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident east of Stickney was a Stickney resident who was 15 years old. According to preliminary information provided by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety on a crash, a four-wheeler model year 2018 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O. was traveling in the eastern direction when it made a southbound turn onto 389th Avenue. The four-wheeler went careening around the bend and into the path of a semi-truck and trailer that were traveling northbound on 389th Avenue.
The semi-truck was a 2004 Peterbilt 379. According to the authorities, Dawson Overweg, who was driving the four-wheeler at the time of the accident, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the site. Stickney resident Seth Dykstra, who was driving the semi-truck and was 20 years old, was not hurt in the accident. The Highway Patrol of South Dakota is conducting an investigation into the collision. The information that has been made public up to this point is simply preliminary. Source

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, just 20 days before he would have turned 65 years old, Jeffrey James Dawson finished his adventure here on earth. Everyone adored Jeff because of his hilarious sense of humor, his stunning blue eyes, his huge smile, and the most infectious laugh anybody had ever heard. He had a heart that was far bigger than himself, and if you were his buddy, he would follow you to the ends of the earth. He had a lot of stories to tell because he enjoyed doing it so much. He was adored by a large number of people, including his friends, family, and the people he worked with. He was born in Lebanon on Monday, August 12, 1957 to the late Richard F. Dawson and Dorothy (Eiceman) Dawson.
He passed away in Lebanon in 1957. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1976 and then worked at BRT, Inc. until his retirement in 2019. In the past, he had worked with both Blouch Fuel and Carlos R. Leffler. His most popular catchphrase was “You know what I mean,” and he went by the nicknames Daws, Leonard, Stumpy, and Big Daddy.
